Skin Problems

The skin is our largest organ that performs vital functions for our bodies. Yet our skin also is a sensitive responder to our emotions.

  • Stress makes your heart beat faster and your blood pressure rise.
  • Fear can make your skin pale.
  • Embarrassment can make you blush.
  • Emotional conflicts, anxieties and other stresses trigger or aggravate skin disease.

Dermatology has made remarkable strides in recent decades with the creation of high-tech aids and new wonder drugs; thus, many skin sufferers have been cured of their conditions.

Yet many have not.

If you have brought your persistent eczema, stubborn warts or psoriasis to specialists, and if all the creams, lotions, and medications have failed to help, you must wonder if there is something else.

In a classic experiment, Japanese physicians Ikemi and Nakagawa hypnotized volunteers and told them that a leaf applied to their skin was a toxic plant like poison ivy. The plant was actually harmless, but the subjects’ skin became red and irritated.

The same experimenters applied an actual toxic plant to other subjects’ skin after telling them it was innocuous. The expected biological reaction — irritated skin — did not take place.

Interestingly, as early as 1928, Heilig and Hoff of the University of Vienna used hypnosis to alleviate outbreaks of oral herpes. Kaneko and Takaishi of the Osaka University Medical School used a similar procedure with hives.

With hypnosis therapy and skin problems, clients benefit from the deep state of relaxation, which is beneficial for skin. Since most skin complications are a result of anxiety, nervousness and aggravation, relaxation via hypnosis helps reduce these feelings and, thus, the blemishes that are manifesting in the skin. However, this deep state of relaxation is only achieved through hypnosis therapy and a deep trance.

Additionally, hypnosis can help skin problems by using imagery of healing. Using imagery and creating symbols related to how you imagine the healing process can reduce blemishes. The imagery sends a subconscious message to the body and is an important part of the hypnosis process.

Hypnosis therapy for skin problems takes advantage of the powerful mind/body connection by empowering the subconscious mind to promote the healing process.

I’m honored to recommend Alex Hertzberg, for his superb skills in hypnosis and for helping me to recover much faster and with less pain and discomfort from my recent surgery to repair a broken wrist. Alex’s talent in hypnosis allowed me to be relaxed and be calm during pre-surgery and throughout the medical procedure. His well-crafted post-hypnotic suggestions for a stronger, quicker, and easier recovery were key to a faster “bounce back” post-surgery as well. His suggestions for a smooth and wonderful rehabilitation of the movement in my wrist also allowed for a speedier and better rehabilitation. The hypnosis allowed for better pain management, less need for any pain medication, and a quicker, smoother, easier recovery. Alex is smart and attuned to the needs of the individual he is working with for hypnosis and his many helpful hypnotic suggestions during just a few sessions were most beneficial to having more relaxation and a better healing process! With Alex’s approach, I was tremendously helped to deal successfully and very positively with a medical procedure.
